Doing Good. Well. Launches Kensington Health and Housing Collaborative to Address Housing Insecurity in Philadelphia’s Kensington Neighborhood

Philadelphia, PA – November 1, 2025 – Doing Good. Well., a nonprofit organization that empowers communities by bringing funding to local organizations to address resident-informed issues, today announced the launch of the Kensington Health and Housing Collaborative, in partnership with the New Kensington Community Development Corporation and six local organizations: NKCDC, HACE, Merakey, Philly Unknown, GALAEI, and Hispanic Community Counseling Services.

Built on the belief that complex social issues are best solved within neighborhoods, this Collaborative will address housing insecurity for Kensington-based residents through a coordinated, trauma-informed approach. The Collaborative aims to provide a more comprehensive level of services and support, resulting in significant, measurable, and enduring improvements in housing stability for the Kensington community.

“Mental health, food insecurity and lack of nutrition, substance use disorder, and workforce development remain some of the biggest obstacles to maintaining safe and stable housing,” said Vik Dewan, founding partner of Doing Good. Well. “In Kensington, between six and seven hundred of our neighbors face homelessness each year. Through this Collaborative, our partners can thoughtfully address their needs in a holistic, inclusive, and impactful way.”

The Collaborative’s implementation plan includes trauma specialists, housing specialists, and organizations with specialization in root-cause assessment, workforce development, medical assistance, mental health support, and family and childcare related issues. Efforts will prioritize connecting with those at greatest risk of housing insecurity, including the LGBQT+, SUD, and other high-risk constituent communities.

The Kensington Health and Housing Collaborative will work to reach and support the entire Kesnington community. More detailed information on programs and impact will be forthcoming in the coming month.
